Description
Matobo Hills Lodge is situated in a private game reserve bordering
on Matopos National Park, 50km from Bulawayo. Matobo Hills Lodge
offers views across the wild Maleme Valley and Mount Ififi. Raised
walkways, shady gardens and a swimming pool built into a natural
cleft in the rock provide a picturesque setting.
There are seventeen lodges, all of which have en suite bathrooms.
Visits of scenic and historical interest include many of the famous
painted caves and where the Matabele armies and the white settlers
clashed during the uprising of 1896 or a visit to the communal
areas where the local Ndebele and Kalanga people continue to live
their traditional life.
Accommodation
In an area of exquisite beauty, the Lodge is built over the surrounding
hills. 34 beds in seventeen luxury hilltop lodges; 13 twin bedded
and 4 double bedded. All lodges have shower, bath toilet and basin
and wall-to-wall carpet. Extra beds on request.
Facilities and Services
A separate lounge/bar with a view, beautiful swimming pool, laundry,
gift shop, conference facilities for 40. A vast selection of dishes
are available to be enjoyed in the dining room or gazebo.
